1. Embark on a hot air balloon journey at morning

Although rising at four in the morning may not be the most romantic thing to do, seeing the sun rise from a hot air balloon over the desert is.

A hot air balloon trip over the Sonoran Desert is an unforgettable and romantic experience, and there are a handful of firms in the Scottsdale/Phoenix region that provide this service. As you soar above the desert environment, taking in the sunrise and keeping a look out for animals, it’s beautiful and tranquil.

I’ve gone on a dawn ride with Hot Air Expeditions, and they provide champagne breakfasts as a way to cap off the flights. You may schedule a tour by clicking here.

Visit the Desert Botanical Garden for a leisurely stroll.

The Desert Botanical Garden, located south of Old Town Scottsdale in Phoenix, is an absolute must-visit if you want to get a closer look at the desert scenery you saw from your hot air balloon. On its 140 acres, this garden honors the desert in all its facets, from its history to its animals.

The Sonoran Desert’s flora and wildlife, as well as the traditional uses of local plants by Indigenous communities, are the subjects of many themed trails. A butterfly pavilion, a path among wildflowers, and a café named Gertrude’s are all features of the garden.

No. 3: Go to a museum.

You may find a wide variety of art galleries and museums in Scottsdale. Worst of all, the one at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall is the one I love taking dates to.

Exciting exhibitions by artists from all around the world fill this interactive and immersive art environment. The artwork is designed to be engaged with, and new displays are added many times a year.

I think Wonderspaces is the most innovative approach of seeing modern and contemporary art. As you peruse the displays, you may quench your thirst at the on-site bar with a beer or beverage.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) are some more museums that you could like seeing together.

4. Go on a thrilling journey together

As the saying goes, “the pair that dares together, stays together.” Whether you and your loved ones prefer more sedate outdoor pursuits or thrilling adventures, the Scottsdale region is jam-packed with opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Here are a few of our preferred choices:

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak, and Camelback Mountain are all great places to go hiking. (Just to reiterate, drink plenty of water!)
Riding horses—MacDonald’s Ranch offers relaxing trail rides across arid surroundings.
Get your mountain biking fix by renting bikes from REI and exploring the trails at your own pace or by signing up for a beginner-friendly guided tour.
Enjoy a leisurely paddle along the Lower Salt River and maybe even a swim while paddling the Salt River. The adjacent Tonto National Forest is home to wild horses, so be careful.
Exciting guided rides in ATVs or UTVs may take you deep into the Sonoran Desert. Stellar Adventures provided us with an excellent trip in terms of safety, pleasure, and equipment.

5. Take it easy in the spa

Want to unwind after an exciting day? If you’re looking for a relaxing spa experience, Scottsdale has much to offer.

Whether you and your loved one prefer to relax with a couple’s massage or each have your own treatment, the Phoenician Hotel’s spa is an excellent choice. After your treatments, you may have lunch or beverages at the resort’s own rooftop pool.

6. Create a candle-making fusion

During our last trip to Scottsdale, Elliot and I had a great time making our own personalized scented candles at Light + Bark in Old Town Scottsdale. You get to personalize your candle by selecting the fragrances and container.

According to the employees at Light + Bark, this is not just a popular choice for bachelorette parties, but they also have couples who come in to create candles for each other on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. The concept is fantastic!

7. Take a Wine Tour in Scottsdale

Historical District Just exploring Scottsdale on foot is a blast, but there’s an urban wine trail to top it all off! The state of Arizona is home to three AVAs, which means it produces excellent grapes for wine. At any one of seven venues along the Scottsdale Wine Trail, you may sample Arizona wines by the glass or in a sampling flight.

Some of the places you can go are:

  • Carlson Creek Tasting Room, Aridus Wine Company, Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, LDV Winery, Merkin Vineyards, and Salvatore Vineyards
  • The Scottsdale Wine Collective
  • Ah, the Arizona Stronghold with its glass of wine
  • Arizona Stronghold: A Wine Tasting Experience
  • At any of the participating wineries along the Scottsdale Wine Trail, you may get a $2 discount on a wine sampling with the purchase of a $5 passport.

8. Platform 18 Prosecco

Platform 18 is the place to go if cocktails are more your style. Within Century Grand, you’ll find this speakeasy-style cocktail bar, one of many themed watering holes. In appearance, Platform 18 is modeled like the inside of a vintage railcar.

As you “board” the train, the digital windows will give the impression that you are rolling through rural France. Get the clarified milk punch or one of the other one-of-a-kind artisan cocktails on the one-of-a-kind beverages menu.

This is a fantastic date idea; your ticket (reservation) grants you access to a thrilling “ride” for 90 minutes.

9. Marcellino Ristorante offers chef-led dinners

A plethora of dining choices await you after a night on the town in Scottsdale. (This city is definitely a gourmet paradise!) However, if you are looking to reserve a table for an exceptionally special and romantic experience, consider the “Chef’s Romantic Dining Cove” at Marcellino Ristorante.

Behold this charming dining nook!
You can escape Arizona for a little while at Marcellino’s, an Italian eatery. Feel like you’ve stepped into an Italian trattoria for an evening with the freshly produced pasta, European atmosphere, and live music.

One of the best ways to enjoy this restaurant is at Chef’s Romantic Dining Cove. After getting to know your tastes, Chef Marcellino will personally prepare a five-course meal (with wine pairings) according to your specifications.

For a romantic dinner for two, it’s ideal.

10. Have dessert with a friend at The Sugar Bowl

In Old Town Scottsdale, the Sugar Bowl is a must-see.
Now, let’s move on to dessert! Once again, Scottsdale offers a plethora of selections, but a timeless classic is always a safe bet. If you’re in the mood for some classic ice cream, stop into the Sugar Bowl in Old Town. Gather a group of friends and have a root beer float or sundae from the real 1950s soda fountain.
